Time to Create!!

School holidays officially started at 3pm yesterday afternoon! After a 2 hour sleep on the couch I decided to venture into the studio to create...... and vintage Christmas was the theme. So I gathered together some of my Tattered Inspirations prints, trims and sheet music and away I went ..... took my time ...... and created these three cards. I was a little worried that having not created for so long that nothing would eventuate, but I have to say that I am really happy with the outcome.

EMILY GRACE Kit

Sorry for the absence in posting of late. As you know, I am a school teacher and over the last few months I have been consumed with writing 33 reports for my class. This is a hugely time consuming process and scrapping just had to take a back seat ...... but I'm back into it now and couldn't be happier to be creating again.

I found an old wooden hanger in Vinnie's for 50c and decided to convert it to a hanger for my vintage seam binding ........ which was previously draped over my desk lamp - not very nice!

I love how this turned out!!

I went into my local OP shop last week looking for zippers and buttons and came home with a bag full of various zippers, bits and pieces for $3, so I decided to use one on a LO! I'm also going to create flowers with the others as they are a bit longer. Stay tuned for these LOs to come!

NEW! 'Birdsong' Kit from Tattered Inspirations

This month I was inspired to do something different with the monthly kit from Tattered Inspirations and decided to alter a clipboard as I was in need of one. This 'Birdsong kit' is so elegant and I just loved the colour combination and at AU$8 - very affordable!

I glued some vintage seam binding to the back of the cameo and tied it to the spring to act as a holder for the pen. It works really well. I hope you like it!

Easter Weekend Scrapping

There was a black and white theme to this challenge plus the addition of flowers.

This LO worked perfectly for the LSBS Easter Challenge and a ScrapBoutique CC challenge this weekend!

This challenge was all about only using primary colours. The photo was just perfect!

For this challenge, you had to make reference to princess/birds and include some

journalling or a quote about something that is as precious as diamonds to you.

We were given a visual inspiration for this one - a red/yellow butterfly in a heart shape and 'eyes'.

This challenge involved making a card with the quote, "You have joined the club!"

These are the 5 fantastic challenges this Easter weekend at Little Scrapbook Shop and also one of the challenges from the ScrapBoutique CC.

It will be three years since I bought my beautiful Holly girl home from the pet shop and I just wanted to say Happy Birthday. Here she is with her birthday presents (blankie & penguin) from Aunty Lisa and family. She just loves them! The perfect squeaky toy and the blankie, which is on the bed and right now she is fast asleep on it!!

For those of you who know me well, you know how much my Holly means to me and we have so much fun every year opening presents (yes she opens presents - well trained) and we will have a special little doggie cupcake too! She is the most beautiful pet ever!!

My Proudest Scrapbooking Achievement

If you have ever submitted a project to a magazine for publication I bet you can share with me the disappointment you feel when they send you a "thanks but no thanks" reply. Well can you imagine my SURPRISE a couple of months ago when I received a "CONGRATULATIONS" email from the editor Kristy, to say that they loved my LO so much they were going to feature it on the FRONT COVER! Yes that's right - Scrapbooking Memories have published my LO on the April issue with a photo of my darling Goddaughter and I can't thank them enough for picking me! Thank you to my dearest friend Lisa (aka: Vanilla) for sharing such a beautiful photo of her daughter with me and allowing it to be published for the nation to see!

I am so very happy in my heart!!

Tattered Inspirations - Peacock Blue Kit

I was a bridesmaid for Anne and Ian in 1997 and just loved the opportunity to scrap this photo,

highlighting the gorgeous colour of the dress I was wearing.

This LO is a bit tongue in cheek! As a teacher, I have had my school photo taken more times than I wish to count since I started kindi, so every now and again a good one comes along and it was worth sharing!

Here is a close up of the stunning flowers and hatpins in the kit.

I created two layouts using this truly gorgeous kit from Tattered Inspirations. I was so taken by the bright blue, purple and turquoise colours. I have used Bo Bunny 'Peacock' patterned paper to compliment the kit.

Tattered Inspirations has three Valentine's Day themed kits for sale. I was lucky enough to choose the beautiful 'Champagne & Roses' kit to create with with the beautiful handmade flowers from a delightful vintage scarf. Tattered Inspirations - Man About Town Kit + Vintage Seam Binding

I am just loving creating with the beautiful products on offer from Tattered Inspirations.

The latest Vintage Kit is titled "Man About Town". I found it perfect to scrap a newly acquired photo of my Pa. It has lovely textured tweed fabric, beautiful cabachons and other lovely vintage elements. I tried to attach a picture of the kit but it wouldn't work. I will keep trying! Also, in last month's Tattered Inspirations newsletter, Carol mentioned some different ways to use the Vintage Seam Binding on sale in the shop. I have created some samples to monstrate these techniques:

January ARTastic Challenge - RENOIR!

January's ART Inspiration ~

"Luncheon of the Boating Party" by Renoir!

My Design Team inspiration. I chose to focus on the added criteria this month.

The story behind this photo is that Deb and I only met for the first time in August at a scrapbooking retreat and we have formed a fabulous friendship. I was lucky enough to holiday close to where she lives a month later and we caught up again a few times. Here we are on Father's Day 2010 having lunch ata lovely cafe with her hubby Pete (taking the photo) in Nana Glen.

January's inspiration will come from the painting 'Luncheon of the Boating Party' by Renoir. Shazza asked each of the Design Team members to choose a painting for inspiration and this happens to my choice and Peggy's. There is just such a positive and happy feel about the painting and the image of a celebration is so appropriate for this time of year. I do hope you can find time to participate this month.

Page Maps 2 - Happy Girl

Holly gave me Becky Fleck's - Page Maps 2 book for Christmas and this is the first LO I have created using one of her sketches. I like the simplicity of it. Lately my LOs have had large clusters of embellishments and it was nice to do something a little different this time. It was a lot quicker too - which I liked!

Meet Milton the bear! I have just completed this card set for the Colour Me Christmas challenge at the Little Scrapbook Shop. I had a lot of fun glimmermisting the doilies to match the cards!

Here are the challenge details:

"For this challenge we'd like you to use stamps and colour them in with at least 2 colours. It can be Copic markers, coloured pencils, chalks, textas/tombow dye markers, anything you can colour with. BUT no paint as in tubes or tubs of paint. (Yes, you can use Twinkling H2O's though). It can be any theme you like, as long as there are 3 cards and at least 2 colours used on them to colour in."

Those of you who know my scrapping style know that when I have a kit to play with I love to use as much of it up as possible. If you scroll down my blog you will already see what I have created with the 'My Fair Lady' monthly kit and French Inspired 'Lemon Sorbet' mini kit from 'Tattered Inspirations', but because these kits offer such great value for money you can always manage two or three projects from each kit.

I had to take a 'time-out brain-break' from report writing on Saturday night, so what better way to do that than scrap a LO. I decided to use the Sketch challenge from ScrapBoutique's Cybercrop this weekend to scrap this photo I have had sitting on my desk with these BG Pyrus PPs for weeks. I'm so glad I did because I love the end result! Then again I'd love anything that wasn't a report!!!

ScrapBoutique October Stash Stomper

There are some fabulous monthly challenges over at ScrapBoutique and I especially loved this one, where you had to pull out some old chipboard and stickers and use them with the sketch given! I decided to join in with the ScrapBoutique CC this weekend as I was looking for some challenges. I have completed two so far but can only upload one here as the other is also my DT submission for the next Scrap That Poetry challenge.

Can you hear the song commercial "Sunshine, lollipops ..... rainbows ...." ? I don't know the words but that was the general inspiration, with a few extra criteria, for this LO! I used the very colourful Echo Park - 'Life Is Good' range. Nice!!!!

The picture is my mum when she was 18 months old. This is my first vintage LO ever. I would love to explore this style more!

Some Scrapping "aHappening" !!!

How much do I just love going to the Little Scrapbook Retreat every year. It is a delightful retreat with lots of fantastic ladies, lots of fun and just a great break away from the every day! I always come home wishing I was still there! I was so glad meet my lovely friend DebiJ finally and had the privelege of her company for another week on my holiday to Coffs!

Here are some the creations from the classes at the retreat. I loved them all.

The very talented Belinda Comerford has us rolling our own paper roses for this LO using the divine Sassafrass Lass 'Indie Girl' range. I just worked out that I have rolled my roses inside out - but I like them that way!! We also created a square card - but I forgot to photograph it!

The equally talented Kerryn Leworthy taught a class including the creation of two wonderful LOs using the Basic Grey "Olivia" range. I am yet to finish the second LO.

We were then treated to this OTP class by Sherry Mendoza - Technical Editor of Scrapbooking Memories. It is a two sided calendar that you write all of the birthdays and anniversaries you don't want to forget on it! I have mine hanging in the living area of my home where I walk past it every day. I still have to fill it in. I actually don't want to write on it, it is so nice but I will eventually get over that I'm sure!

Here are some cards I created using the leftovers from Belle's class. I just love the Indie Girl range!

Thanks for looking. I have had a lovely two weeks off work to create and relax, but it all comes to an end tomorrow and I am back to it!

Revamping an Old Layout

The original .......

.... the revamp.

It was during the Little Scrapbook Retreat last year that I received the news on the Sunday morning that my Poppy had just passed away. Almost 12 months on, this has been playing on my mind.
When I originally scrapped this LO about 3 years ago, the word "POPPY" fell off (Heidi Swapp!!) and I wasn't really happy with the journaling.

It wasn't until SM called for grandparent LOs in their current issue (that I am published in!!), that I pulled this LO out knowing that I owed it to myself and my Poppy to fix it. So I added and changed some PPs and the flowers and modernised it. I said I would never touch my old LOs but I'm really pleased I did.

I submitted it and SM rejected it today - but that's OK, because that makes me even more determined to keep submitting.

RIP Poppy. I miss you every day.

Multi-tasking!!

When I saw the sketch challenge for the latest Cybercrop at LSBS I knew it was going to be the perfect avenue for me to scrap my latest ScrapThatPoetry DT entry as well.

The poem inspiration for this month is:

Footprints in the Sand by Mary Stevenson
One night I had a dream --
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord,
and aross the sky flashed scenes from my life.

For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before us,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.

I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
There was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life
This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it.

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
You would walk with me all the way;
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,
There is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why in times when Ineeded you the most,
you should leave me.

The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child.
I love you, and I would never,never leave you during your times oftrial and suffering.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
t was then that I carried you.

I have always loved this poem so very much.

Here is the story behind the layout:
This is my 'school photo' from last year. Don't let the smile fool you, because I was at my lowest point. I weighed well over 100kg, I was fat and just miserable within myself, eating my way into oblivion and two to three larger clothing sizes. Yet I had to turn up to work every day and put my happy face on and do what I do!
Today I am under 100kg, happier and on my way to being a healthy person again in body and mind. This layout reminds me to always draw upon my Faith for strength.

I have found a new passion ..... scrapping in A4! This size is wonderful for all of those one-off 6x4 photos that seem to get lost in a 12x12 format! I made the frayed fabric flowers and have to thank one of the LSBS girls for sending me the tissue paper flower in a RAK.
